The matter of making some ; disposition of the old power : plant building in the mouth of the canyon, was discussed by the council This building has been vacant since the new generating plant was installed install-ed in the city a number of years ago. It was proposed that an effort be made to dis- pose of this building. The council again discussed .the construction of the pro-' pro-' posed new power line from the west boundary of the city to connect with the new substation sub-station to be installed near the Parowan power plant in the near future. It was felt by members that outside help should be obtained in the project pro-ject in order to make available avail-able the necessary equipment needed for the job. Therefore Parowan City has asked the California-Pacific power firm lo undertake this project. It was reported that the new pump had been installed in the well on the southeast edge of the city and that Work got underway during the week on the airport improvement im-provement project with the contractor, Richard Nelson, moving in his equipment to be used in leveling and grading the runway. The initial in-itial part of the work was getting get-ting water on the land for use In wetting down the dirt, with Nelson preparing t Inline In-line and Parowan City to furnish fur-nish the water. This was a report given to the City Council Coun-cil at Its meeting on Monday night. Nelson's bid on grading and leveling the runway was for approximately $11,000 and the cost of the project Is being paid for under a cooperate agreement by Parowan City, Iron County and the State of Utah Aeronautics department. Hill Wranglers,, Parowan riding rid-ing Club met with the council to discuss a proposed rental fee for use of stables at the City race track. Many horse owners use the stables for varied periods of time, some for long periods. The riding club delegates proposed that a rental fee be set up for such use. The council concurred in the plan would be used to pay setting up a $5.00 per month rental fee for use of the stables, sta-bles, to take effect after the first ten days of occupancy. The money collected under the plan wouud be used to pay |
