Top thoroughbreds thorough-breds and quarter horses from the In-termountain In-termountain area will look down this straightaway at the Cedar City race track Friday and Saturday as the Ce dar City Jaycees sponsors the third annual Color Country Downs Races. Color Country Downs laces slated by Jaycees June 2 & 3 ing event was held Wednesday Wednes-day evening at the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce offices. The Cedar City Jaycees announced an-nounced that the Color Country Coun-try Downs Race Meet, sane-" tioned by the Utah Thoroughbred Thorough-bred Association, will be held Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3 at the Cedar City Jaycee Race Track South of town. Post-time Friday will be 4:30 p.m. and Saturday races are slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. Eight races are ' scheduled each day including a $200 Added Ad-ded Quarter Horse Futurity sponsored by Staipley's Ranch Wear; a $200 Added Quarter Horse. Derby sponsored by the Jaycees; a $500 Added Thoroughbred Thor-oughbred Futurity sponsored by Highland Dairy and Lin's A. G. and a $500 Thoroughbred Thorough-bred (Derby sponsored by the Ofdar City Jaycees. "1 The special added purses makes the Jaycee Color Country Coun-try Downs Race Meet one of the richest in the area for horse racers, Thoroughbreds and quarter horses from the Intermountain area will be here to race for these top purses. In addition to the eight races each day there will be a special exhibit exhib-it of Trotters from California. Ron Chamberlain, race meet chairman, reports that the track will be in top shape for this weekend and that the sables will also toe ready by race time.
