Show ROLLO-glyphih - Couldn't help but wonder this past week about some of the ethical practices of some of our proiessional groups when I received a two-page release about the upcoming gathering of the Utah Certified Certif-ied Public Accountants. Not that I want to particularly particu-larly single out the CPA's of the state, but to simply draw your attention to the fact that many of these professional profes-sional groups have adopted a standard of "ethics" which forbids them to "advertise." As a matter of fact there is a seminar section at the state convention, to 'be held at Park City this next week, dealing with "professional ethics." Just wanted you guys to know that this little reference to your convention, dates are June 8-10, is plugged under the guise of 'publicity," otherwise We wouldn't be allowed al-lowed to print it in our newspaper. nificant in Cedar City and the beautiful flowers, the calm, clear and iwarm day, all contributed con-tributed to a very special observance. ob-servance. It seems that Schulz, the creator of the cartoon strip, "Peanuts" caught the Inference Infer-ence of the trend: to make every holiday a Monday holiday holi-day allowing for the longer weekends. In Monday's Tribune Tri-bune one of the cartoon characters char-acters was in the process of writing a theme , paiper. I quote: 'This is my theme on Memorial Mem-orial Day today, so they can have a three-day weekend and go water skiing . . Which hasn't much to do with Memorial Mem-orial Day ... which is really tommorrow." I hope that we don't get in the haibit of puting off important im-portant celebrations until tomorrow to-morrow while we seek out individual in-dividual pleasures on the long three-day weekends. n n w A final note on the Memorial Mem-orial Day observance. I received re-ceived a call Monday morning morn-ing from City manager Arnold Anderson. It seems that when the city prepared to raise the flag on the city park for Memorial Day they found the flag ropes cut and taken out. The pole is 70 feet high so it was Impossible Im-possible to raise the flag that day. Efforts are now being made to repair the thoughtless thought-less damage. But just in case you were wondering that's the reason for no flag at the park Memorial Day. Memorial Day celebrated this year on Monday, May 29, was such a beautiful day, bringing together families from far and near for the special occasion. The Cedar City parks crew has to be commended for the fine efforts that have been made, to put the Cedar City Cemetery in excellent shape for the occasion. I heard the comment on several occasions, that the cemetery looked "the best they had ever seen it," a real compliment to Dell Judd and his crew for a job well done. It seems that Memorial Day, whatever day it is celebrated, brings to town a number of people that we rarely have an occasion to see at any other time. Honoring our kindred dead still seams to be an important, im-portant, tradition that has been maintained and should continue to be maintained in the future. It was good to visit with old friends, former members of the community, as they returned re-turned to pay their respects.
