Show . ' ft r IMPROVE ENVIRONMENT. Thanks to some 100 grade school students from Parowan Elementary and South Elementary in Cedar City, visitors to the Dixie National Forest will have a more enjoyable visit to nearby campgrounds ths year. Concerned and willing wil-ling students from Mr. Roper's and Mr. Bauer's fifth grade classes at South Elementary;, and Mr. Chester Benson's sixth grade class at Parowan Elementary, spent a day on the Cedar City Ranger District learning learn-ing about the management and problems associated with operating public campgrounds. The students then tackled some of the problems with projects including in-cluding replacement barriers to keep vehicles on roadways, road-ways, tree planting to help curb erosion, repairing signs, locating water system problems and removal of safety( hazards. In addition they participated in a general cleanup throughout the campground and along the highway. Students accumulated approximately approxi-mately a ton of trash in the cleaning endeavor. |
