Show Letter to The Editor DEAR EDITOR: In reference to the comments com-ments made by Alan Stones last week, I would first like to say that my brief history of the track and the Red Hill Wranglers was not meant to be a controversial subject. My statements are all taken from the record books and the story of the building of the track was given to me by the men who built it. The American Legion is a very fine organization, and has done many fine things for the community over the years, but Mr. Stones is wrong when he gives it the credit for building build-ing the race track. I have talked to some of the men who have been in the Legion for many years, . and they have told me that the Legion built some of the stalls at the- track, ajitflpC&jwtth other improvements several years' after i the track was built. Parowan City was responsible respon-sible for the building of the grandstand, but as I have already al-ready stated, my article was the history of the Red Hill Wrangler's. It is not my job to give the history of what other clubs have done.,, , If I were to try and name everyone who has ever worked work-ed at the race tra ck. it would take this whole paper to write the list. We have always had many towns-people who with- out pay, work during our race meets, working in the booths, running the starting gates, judging and selling tickets. The Wranglers' shows are for the entertainment of the peo-pie peo-pie of Parowan and surrounding surround-ing towns, and the people have always been very good to help with them. Janet Jones and Joan Mor-tensen Mor-tensen have spent many hours and gallons of gas running back and forth to the track helping plant the grass and watering it. They have kept it mowed and, and, have spent their own money on fertilizer and we are very grateful to them. They have done this, not to get their names in the paper but to make the track a more attractive place to come Joe Stubbs must be given the credit for getting the trees and helping plant the grass and has been in charge of the landscaping at the track. He has spent a lot of time working work-ing there to improve the surroundings. sur-roundings. In reference to the building of the new paddocks and the fence. The Wranglers also helped build them, The city and the fair board and Wranglers Wrang-lers worked on them together. The club also furnished the welder for the fence and paid two of the boys who were hired hir-ed to help. The Parowan track has always al-ways been available to any local lo-cal group or organization that wished to use it and has always al-ways been under the urisdic-tion urisdic-tion of Parowan City. Wood Decker, city manager, without waiting to be asked, always sees that the weeds arc moved and the city equipment equip-ment is available at the trai k if needed. The Wranglers and the city have always been ab It to work well together. Let's stop criticizing the people peo-ple who do the work and pitch in and help make Parowan I City a nicer place in which to live and to come to for the races. ! MARY GAY EVANS.
