District 5 constitutes that area of Cedar City bounded by Main Street on the East and Center Street on the South. Smith Is the Southern Utah Division Engineer for California-Pacific Utilities Com-, pany. A native of Cedar City he attended Cedar City schools where he was active in wrestling wrest-ling and football. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University in Logan. Lo-gan. A three year veteran of the United States Air Force he served as a Armament Svs- terns officer and holds the rank of Reserve Captain. . Prior to joining the utilities firm in Cedar City he was with the Flight Test division of Lockheed Aircraft at Palm-dale, Palm-dale, Calif. Active in the community he is a past president and cur-, rently member of the Board of Directors of Cedar City American' Amer-ican' Little League. He is a member of the Cedar City Rotary Ro-tary Club and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Safety Commission. Smith Js a member of the High council of the Cedar Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a former member of the Cedar Fourth Ward Bishopric and a former Cedar Stake MIA Superintend- cnt. He is married to the former Bonnie Jones, also of Cedar City and they have five children. child-ren. An advocate of "reading, riting and 'rithmatkr," Smith is opposed to innovations in education programs that have reduced the high scholastic standings that Utah students once enjoyed. |
