Show Five New Deans Appointed at College of Southern Utah School Board and has held the position of president of the board. Dr. Wesley P. Larsen will direct the School of Sciences. He is presently completing an assignment with the National Science Foundation in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, and will return to the campus in September. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and took BS, MS, and PhD degrees in zoology at the U of U. He also attended Stanford U. He is a member of Phi Sigma, Sigma Xi, Utah Academy of Science, Arts and Letters, Entomological Society of America, Utah Nature Na-ture Study Society, of which he served as president, National Na-tional Association of Biology Teachers, and Utah Historical Society. He has served as an officer in the Utah Education Association and Carbon County Coun-ty Education Association. Before Be-fore joining the CSU faculty in 1960, he taught at College of Eastern Utah and also served as an entomologist for Del Monte Packing Co. His reports on irradiation studies have been published in internationally internation-ally distributed scientific journals. He worked on the studies for three years under grants from the Atomic Energy Commission and was instrumental instru-mental in securing a Cobalt 60 irradiator for CSU. Assuming responsibility for the School of Business and Technology is Professor A. W. Stephenson who has served for a number of years as chairman chair-man of the CSU Division of Business. Prof. Stephenson was born in Holden, Millard County, and was" reared in Delta. He received a BS in business education from Utah State University and a MA in business administration from Denver University. He also did graduate work at University Uni-versity of California at Los Angeles. He became a member mem-ber of the CSU faculty in 1942 and has served as chairman of the Athletic Council, Student Stu-dent Assistance and Scholar-; Scholar-; ship Committee, and as a ; member of the Faculty Coor dinating Committee. He served serv-ed two terms as president of the Utah Business Teachers' Assn. and is a member of the American Assn. of University Professors. While at Denver U he was president of the Eta Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon. He is advisor to the CSU chapter chap-ter of Phi Delta Kappa. Prior to his assignment at CSU, he taught at Delta and Cedar City High Schools. He filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Appointment of deans to head five newly created schools at College of Southern Utah has been announced by Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite, CSU president. The new schools are subdivisions of the Division Divi-sion of Academic Affairs, directed di-rected by Dr. Conrad V. Hatch. Heading the School of Arts and Letters will be Dr. Eugene T. Woolf. A native of Salt Lake City, Dr. Woolf received Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in English from University Uni-versity of Utah, where he was a teaching assistant. He also studied at Stanford University and Shrivenham University in England. He joined the CSU faculty in 1953 and has served as assistant to the president in addition to holding the rank of associate professor of English. He is a member of the Utah Council of Teachers of English, National Council of Teachers of English, Modern Language Association of America, Western Literature Association, Cedar City Art Exhibit Committee, and is secretary sec-retary of the Utah Shakespearean Shakespear-ean Festival Board of Directors. Direc-tors. He is a lieutenant colonel in the Utah National Guard and served in World War II and the Korean War. He is serving his second term as a member of the Iron County Saints and has served on the board of directors of the Cedar City Lions Club, Escalante Knife and Fork Club, and is past chairman of the Cedar City Coordinating Council. He was recently elected an officer in the Western Education Conference Con-ference and has served two previous terms in the same position. Dr. Morris A. Shirts has been appointed dean of the School of Education. Born in Escalante, Escal-ante, Garfield County, he received re-ceived BA and MA degrees from Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. He was awarded a doctorate doc-torate in education by Indiana University in 1952, where he served as a graduate and research re-search assistant. His teaching experience has also included service at North Sanpete High School and BYU, where he was acting director of the audiovisual audio-visual center, principal of the secondary laboratory school, and instructional materials advisor to the National Teachers Teach-ers College of Iran. Dean of the School of Continuing Con-tinuing Education and Public Service is Dr. MeRay Cloward. He has most recently served as chairman of the CSU Division of Continuing Education and Special Programs. He was born in Monroe, Sevier County. He received an Associate of Science certificate from CSU and BS and Master of Education Educa-tion degrees from USU. He completed studies toward a Doctor of Education degree from Teabody College in 19(50. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Del-ta Kappa, UBA, NEA, and Southern Utah Teacher's Assn. He joined the CSU staff in 1946 as Housing and Bookstore Book-store manager. In addition to his deanship, he is an associate asso-ciate professor of psychology. He has served on numerous state and local committees including in-cluding the State Textbook Committee. He is presently chairman of the Brian Head Corporation and Iron County Democratic Committee. He has authored professional articles on college housing and administration. ad-ministration.
