Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis of Cedar City are strong advocates of Adult Education Program which helped them obtain ob-tain high school degrees. i Cedar Couple Take Advantage Of Continuing Education Program Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis are two of Cedar City's residents res-idents who appreciate the opportunity op-portunity of continuing education ed-ucation offered here. They are taking advantage of these opportunities op-portunities for self improvement improve-ment in evening classes. Ralph was awarded his high school diploma in June, 1965, after successful completion of a class in American Problems through the evening high school program. He lacked only one unit of credit in order to complete requirements for graduation. Mrs. Lewis, Marie, lacked more credit than her husband but possessed a great deal of determination. She has completed com-pleted six units of credit by attending evening classes during the past three years. She has, during the same period, per-iod, added two new little ones to her family. The Lewises are enthusiastic about the program and wish to encourage anyone who does not have a high school diploma to investigate the possibilities offered by the Iron County School District. According to Marian Hahne, Adult Education Coordinator, night high school will bo offered of-fered again this fall. There are, however, other sources of credit besides class attendance. attend-ance. Credit can be awarded for work experience, military service, and by testing. A high school diploma may be just a step away. There are several preliminary prelimin-ary steps to be followed if one is interested: 1. Secure a transcript of all high school credit that you have. 2. Make arrangements to take the General Educational Development test at CSU by calling Dena Pearson at the college. The cost is $5.00. 3. Make a list of work experience ex-perience giving names and addresses of employers. 4. Get in touch with Marian Hahne at 586-8991. Your credit will then be evaluated by the Iron County Credit Committee and you may find that you are richer in high school credit than you thought. Mrs. Hahne will be happy to discuss it with you. |
