I District 11 ol the l'tah Highway j Patrol, compi i;-i ,i of Iron, Washington Wash-ington and Heaver counties of southern l'tah has compiled a statistical report for the 1!K5 year. Information in the report was released re-leased this week by Sgt. Hubert Moid. A sharp increase in felonious activities was handled by the Highway Patrol during 11)05. This increase, according to Sgt. Keid, is mainly attributed to the fact that Highway l'S-9t keeps increasing in-creasing in total traffic each year with a 6 9 lu percent increase for 1905 over 191! I. Many months during the summer US-91 car- ; ried a traffic load of 2 10,000 cars la month. He further indicated that l'S-91 is a main artery leading lead-ing both to and from the I. as 'Vegas, Los Angeles area. In 1905 the personnel of District 11 assist - j ed in five murder investigations! !and one attempted murder inves- j ligation. There were 5S stolen1 cars apprehended, 29 drunken ' drivers arrested and numerous I arrests for other felonious acts. In the area of accident investigation investi-gation the Highway Patrol noted a slight decrease. There were 11 people killed as a result of automobile auto-mobile accidents, five in Iron County, eight in Washington county and one in Beaver county. There were 15-1 property damage accidents, a decrease of one. In analysing the decrease in accidents Sgt. Reid indicated that the department felt it was made possible by the completion of Interstate In-terstate Highway in the District and an increase in traffic violation viola-tion contacts. The seven patrol-j patrol-j men of the District contacted 3971 people for traffic violations, an increase of 359 over the pre-j pre-j vious year. Fines from these arrests ar-rests wore approximately $20,-2S5.00 $20,-2S5.00 which is maintained in the general fund of the county in Which the violation occured. ' During the course of the year, i members of District II compiled i approximately 1013 over-time ,hours in various phases of the (program from accident investigation investiga-tion to special details. Special details de-tails such as school bus inspections, inspec-tions, court appearances, safety talks, safety inspection station checks, assisting other departments, depart-ments, blood shuttles, blockades, radar checks, etc., total 330. In the close to 800 miles of State and Federal Highway in the District there was a total of 2(57,-014 2(57,-014 miles of patrolling.. |
