Show Cedar Redmen Drop Opener To Dixie Bat Wizards The Cedar High School Red-men Red-men baseball team, composed mostly of sophomores and junior students opened the season Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at St. George. The 13 to 2 setback they suffered suf-fered at the hands of the Dixie Flyers, made the grade slightly uphiU that they must climb to repeat this season as Region Champions. Although the Redmen were practically errorless the Flyers were hitting consistently where the Redmen weren't. That coupled coupl-ed with a grand slam home run and a three run production spelled spel-led doom for the local boys. Handling the mound chores for coach Ray EngJes'tead was Ray Endsley, a junior, starter; and Neil Petty, sophomore, finished out the game. Runs were scored almost evenly against the two chuckers. The Redmen were able to hit fairly consistently but could not produce when runners were in scoring position. Inning after inning in-ning runners were left standing on base. Next game on the schedule for Coach Englestead's swatmen wiU be Monday, April 16, at Del- U' - 1 - i |
