Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING By Nolo Kupfw i At the home of Helen Knight, the Belva Zimns met to hear Mrs. Lehi Jones and Mrs. Scott Urie present the History of American i Folk Music. As Mrs. Jones gave' the backgrounds and stories of various musical pieces, Mrs. Urie presented them in song. The even-lng even-lng proved to be most entertaining entertain-ing and interesting for those present. While refreshments were being served, the group enjoyed singing Christmas Carols. As guests for the evening, Mrs. Knight invited Evedean Stokes and Muriel Smith. Thanksgiving Day was a momentous mo-mentous day for Mrs. Rohei t Warren, the former Lorraine Mil. ler. For, It was on that day that Mrs. Warren boarded trans-Atlantic trans-Atlantic clipper for a flight from New York to Paris, France, where she Joined her husband, who is serving there with the air force. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, parents of Mrs. Warren, received a cablegram last week that their daughter had arrived safely in Paris and met her husband. Mrs. Emma Warren is the mother of Lt Warren. The Airport Cafe took on a festive fes-tive holiday appearance last Wednesday as members of the En Avante club and their partners part-ners met to enjoy their Christmas dinner and dance. The banquet table was decorated with boughs accented by red and gold candles and holders. While dinner was enjoyed, beautiful Christmas music was softly heard In the background. As the couples later lat-er danced they were delighted with the colorful decorations which adorned the ballroom. Committee members for this social so-cial event were Myda Osborne, chairman, Carmen Jones, Hazel Nelson, Mary MacDonald and Llllis Larson. Bridge was played at the home of Mrs. Alden Heap last Thi rs-day. rs-day. High scores were made by Mrs. Donald Mathews, Mrs. Jack Thuet and Mrs. Thomas Urie. Light refreshments were served by the hostess. Christmas was the theme for the evening as the Chere Amies met at the home of Mrs. Sid Por. ter last Wednesday. The program pro-gram was given by Mrs. Vern Kupfer. The traditions of Christmas Christ-mas were told In story and verse after which the program was completed by Mrs. Kupfer as she presented the recording of Norman Nor-man Vincent Peale's "The Coming Com-ing of the King." The hostess served a delicious dessert to members and two guests, Mrs. Wlllard Hamilton and Mrs. J. Furl Porter of St. George. Master Brad Schmutz celebrat. ed his birthday recently by Inviting In-viting a group of his little friends In for games and refreshments. refresh-ments. Brad, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Schmutz, had fou: candles adorning his birthday cake. Entertaining Sunday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Max Weaver. Gathering in the playroom at the Weaver home for a most enjoyable enjoy-able evening were Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Magleby, Mi. and Mrs. W1I-liam W1I-liam Krueger, Mr. and Mr. Joseph Jos-eph Fillerup, Mr. and Mrs. George Barrus, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Kupfer and Mrs. Glenn Wahl-quist. Wahl-quist. Members of the group brought favorite slides which were shown during the evening. Refreshments were served by the hostess. |
