Show Fish and Game Dept. Purchases Utah Indian Hcreaga ' State Fish and Game Depart- . ment announced recently the I purchase of 10,249 acres of land In the Indian Peaks area of western west-ern Beaver County. The Game Department, It was announced, acquired the land which has not been utilized by the Indian Teak band of Paiute Indians for many years. This tribe, numbering only 26 ind scattered throughout the state and Into California, owned a total to-tal of 8.9G0 acres of the land. The game department paid them the appraised price of $39,500 for that land. The remaining 1580 acres i are to be acquired from the siaie i Land Board. Fish and Game plans an extensive ex-tensive range rehabilitation project pro-ject on the area In the Immediate i future. Future plans call for extensive ex-tensive revegetation in the area designed to improve ranges lor antelope and deer herds. Sime there are some elk In the area I some revegetation probably will be designed to Improve the range for their use. I In keeping with policies of the I game commission on multiple I use certain areas within the now- land will be opened for some' , livestock grazing when range for- J age and browse have been re-i re-i stored.
