Show LIVING IN THE ESCALANTE VALLEY Br Mrs. Jack MoyU VALLEY COUNCIL The Escalante Valley Coordinating Coordin-ating Council met at the school house on Wednesday, Dec. 4. President David Love conducted. Other members present were Nielse Nielson, vice president, and Francis Piper, secretary. Mabel Nielson represented the PTA while Miriam McGarry and Alene Smith represented the Sunday School. President Elisa and Bruno Biasi represented the Ladies' Club and the building committee, respectively. Don Ap- plegate the Lions Club and the school. Tony Alberto and Bryner Woods represented the television and fire engine committee. Bry. I ner also represented the Cub Scouts and 411 boys. There were no reports from the road com- mittce, agricultural and water 'chairmen, K E A, girls 4-H and wildlife as their representatives were unable to attend. Others present at the meeting were John McGarry, Phyllis Wood, Corrine Applegate, Jean Love, Jenor and Chester White-law White-law and Georgia Moyle. 1 After the reports were given by the committeemen and the discussions were through, nominations nom-inations were in order to elc.rt officers for the coming year. The results of this election were as follows: Nielse Nielsen, president with Chester Whitelaw, vice president. pres-ident. Other members will eith-ed eith-ed carry on or be reappointed. ! As a finishing touch for the evening, the group enjoyed the film "Bob White," which was shown by Don Applegate. THE CUBS The monthly Cub Scout pack meeting for December was held at the school house on Friday night, Dec. 6. Lion badges were awarded to Terry Pedersen, Steven Stev-en Applegate and David Piper. Arrow awards were given to Glen Nielsen, Lee Scott, Divid Piper, Steven Applegate and Ter. ry Pedersen. The awards for the Newcastle Den No. 3 did not arrive In i time to be presented at this meeting. Songs were sung and the boys presented a Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing play after which they en-Joyed en-Joyed racing their pine wood der-bys der-bys on the track which they and their fathers constructed. The parents attendance award was won by Den 2. The presenting present-ing of this award for the first I time will be followed up each I month. Phyllis Wood Is the new iden mother for Den No. 1 and Francis Piper carries on for Den No. 2. R E A The December meeting of the R E A was held at that building on Monday night, Dec. 9. All members were present except Gordon Moyle, president, who has been confined to his home for some time because of illness. Those present were David Love, Sruno Biasi, Ray Hunt, Tony Alberto, Al-berto, Lorenzo Chrlstensen, I lor. are Phelps, Leon Bowler and Po-ca Po-ca Romero. Small appliances are no.v available at the R E A building. This has been made possible and brought as a service to the members mem-bers by the R E A. . DANCING A good time will be had by all at Modena on Friday, Dec. 14, as you enjoy an evening of dancing to the music of Her! Knell's Hot Shots from Dixieland. Dixie-land. Every one Is Invited so come out and Join the fun. The dance Is sponsored by the attendance committee of the Escalante Es-calante Valley Lions Club. CHURCH ACTIVITY Primary Edna Thorley, Darlene Pendle-ton Pendle-ton and Rosilla Hills of Modena visited the Panaca Ward Primary Wednesday, Dec. 4, In behalf oi the Uvada Stake Primary, pre sentlng the annual goodwill Christmas story and taking e treat to the boys and girls. Likewise Orlene Twltehell, Nellie Nel-lie and Georgia Moyle visited the Newcastle ward the same day. M I A Carma Taylor, Jack Moyle anc William Hunt attended the Uvada Uva-da Stake MIA board meeting at Enterprise on Dec. 9. Miss Taylor, with other stake board members, visited at the Pioche Ward mutual on Tuesday night, Dec. 10 while Jack Moylf visited at the Enterprise Second Ward. HERE and THERE David Stubbs, Clyde Stowell, Ronald Baze, Evle Crum, Barbara and Phyllis Wagoner, Vickie Bosshardt and George Moyle at tended a class party at the Enterprise En-terprise school Dec. 9. Some residents of the valley attended funeral services on Monday, Dec. 9 at Enterprise for Bert Price. Sheridan McGarry of Salt Lake visited for a few days at tin home of Mr. and Mrs. John C McGarry. Sheridan Is a brother of John. Also visitors and dinner guest; at the McGarry home last weel-were weel-were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fen-ton Fen-ton and little granddaughter ol Parowan. Mrs. Eva Wilcox of Salt Lake Is here In the valley staying witr her daughter, Augusta Hunt anc family. Alex Wood and Kenneth Hun' are In Kayanta, Ariz., where they are spending a few days on business bus-iness matters. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gardner have left again for Salt Lake where Mr. Gardner will be under the doctor's care. Albert Schwartz and Walt El- i rthi liio. nnna r Flagstaff on business. There they will visit with Mrs. Schwartz's brother. Frederick Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bosshardt Vickie and Tony and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Hunter and bahy, enjoyed a nice trip to California. Califor-nia. There the visited at Bakers, field with Mrs. Bosshardt's son, BUI Malan and family, and at Fhaster. Calif, with the Metier and Alvln Perry families.
