Show Cedar City Students Attain "Top" Honors Two Cedar City students at the University of Utah were( among the "top" freshmen giv.( en special tests aimed at mak-, ing better plans for unusually j gifted students. Participating In the tests on, Nov. 23 the first of their kind ever given at the University of j Utah were Allen John Roberts, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mcrrlsj Roberts of Cedar City, who plars to major In engineering, and Dayne G. Gardner, a son of Mr. I and Mrs. Kenneth Gardner of Cedar City, also an engineering major. The top 10 of the freshman class based on their high school grades and entrance ex. amlrslior.s were about evenly divided between men and women. wo-men. Fifty per cent of there freshmen are now in science fields, 21 In education, end 29 in social sciences, arts, business, bus-iness, law, home economics or undecided. Dr. Sidney W. Angleman, as. sociate dean of the University College, said the purpose of the tests was " to give more individual indi-vidual attention to the educn-tlonal educn-tlonal plans of the gifted student and to avoid duplication by rec ognlzing work already done by these students." |
