Show Practice Sessions Ready Rams For Cedar Team With this year's basketball season practice games slated to get under way this week end, Coach John Wood of the Parowan High School has been pushing his charges hard all week long to be ready for this week's openers, open-ers, although we understand that there is some uncertainty about the opening game on Friday evening. eve-ning. But there is no uncertainty uncertain-ty concerning the Saturday night game with the Cedar Hifjh Red-men Red-men at the CSU fleldhouse. The following week end will be the Iron County tourney with the Parowan and Cedar Team? taking on the strong Class A School Ben Lomond and the North Sevier High team from Salina on consecutive nights. The first round will pit the Cedar Redmen against the Sevier team and Parowan against the Ben Lomond team, bo'H games In the Parowan gym. The following night the local teams will switch 1 opponents and move to the field-house field-house In Cedar City for the two I games. I CoachJohn Wood made his fin-I fin-I al cut on this year's prospective squad on Monday night and se- lected his squad to represent . the Parowan school in this year's basketball wards. Of this year's squad which numbers 13 at present, six are returing members from last year's Region 10 championship team, and six are men moved up from last year's B team, and 0 le other who played church ball on a junior M . Men team. The irason for the 13 men is that one man returning from last year't A team is out at present with a broken foot, sustained in eaily practice sessions, and it may be late In the season before he ran roturn to the squad. This man is Duane Lamoreaux, dimunitive forward from last year's squad. Other veterans will be Reed Thornton, David Adams, Dean Robinson, Bovd Whitey and Don-aid Don-aid Burton. Thornton and Burton were regulars last year and the others filled In as reserves and all got considerable experience during the season. Men moving up from the B squad of last year are Eugene Robb, Kenneth Dalton, Wayne Merkley, Kenneth Simklns, Mike Lamoreaux, and Rodney Decker. Rod Lister played church ball last year. These men will be trying to gain berths on the starting five during the next four weeks be-for be-for division play starts early In January. |
