Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING I By Nola Kupfer ' Enjoying dinner around the Thanksgiving table of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Jones was their entire family. Coming from Salt Lake City for the festive holiday wtre Dr. and Mrs. J;, L,. Siddoway and their four children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodbury and son, and Cynthia Jones and fried Jai-e Yuseppian of Chicago. Family members of Cedar City included son Ken and Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Jones and daughter. It was the first complete family get-together In four years and so, it was a most enjoyable occasion. The Orvllle Isoms enjoyed Thanksgiving in the good old fashioned way as family members mem-bers gathered to enjoy a day of family fun and feasting. Out of town guests were Mrs. Isom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. II. Woodbury of LaVerkin, a sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Foster Fos-ter Harris of St. George, and from Ha Hey, Idaho, came Mrs. I om's brother, Ellis J. Woodbury. Another An-other brother, MSgt. Clive Woodbury, Wood-bury, who was home on leave, his wife and children were, also on hand for the occasion. On Friday, the Woodbury family fam-ily held a reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Woodbury in order that they might all visit vis-it with Cliv and his family before be-fore their departure for Germany. Many family members enjoyed the day's activities at the family homestead. MSgt. and Mrs. Woodbury with their children left Cedar City Saturday moaning moan-ing for New York where they will continue their much anticipated antici-pated trip overseas. San Manual, Ariz, was the Thanksgiving spot for Mrs. Lula Rollo and her sons Trent and Kenneth as they visited with a daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron E. Lee and two sons Ray and Donald. Making the trip and enjoying the Thanksgiving Thanks-giving dinner with the family were Mrs. Rollo's mother Mrs. Mary B. Heyborne, her daughter Mrs. Ted Atherley and baby, and grandson David Rollo. Kenneth especially enjoyed the family gathering as he recently returned return-ed from Okinawa and following a short visit here and in Colorado Color-ado he will be leaving to attend a paratrooper training school in Kentucky. Visiting at home with his pir-ents pir-ents and family for Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing Day was Donald Heap of Salt Lake City. Enjoying the visit were Mr. and Mrs. Alden Heap and children Launa Rae and David. The school holiday at the Utah State University brought Mary nn Campbell to Cedar City as the house guests of Shirley Mc-Tntyre. Mc-Tntyre. The holiday was spent visiting her many friends here. Miss Campbell is the daughter former Cedar residents, Mr. and Mr;. Glen Can??!??!!. Dr. and Mrs. Scott George trav. ?led from Van Nuys, Calif., for a Thanksgiving visit with Mrs. '"Jenrtre's parents. Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Petty. The four George children chil-dren enjoyed Thanksgiving din-ner din-ner at grandmothers right along with the other dinner guests. On Sunday Dr. Petty and his son I Frank J. fetty were honored at I a family dinner at the home of i Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Petty. The I occasion was to remember the I two gentlemen on their birthdays which were Nov. 28 and Dec. 1. respectively. Following a most pleasing stay. Dr. and Mrs. George and family returned to their California Califor-nia home the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Carpemcr enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with their daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. George Welch at their home in Ogden. After a very pleasant day, the couple traveled on to Logan. There, they were able to see their new little granddaughter, born Nov. 27, to Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Carpenter. It 1 is the first child for the former I Cedar City couple and the first grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Car-penter. Car-penter. Mr. and Mrs. Rube Wlnterrose spent Thanksgiving in Salt Lake City with their daughter Jackie and Mrs. Winterrose's sister sis-ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Afton Bown of Redding, Calif., and son Kalvln, who is attending attend-ing the B Y U. A very pleasant day was enjoyed by the family as they visited and later attended attend-ed the Thanksgiving football game at the U stadium, during the half-time of which, Jackie participated with the University of Utah marching band. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Cowley and Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Schmutz enjoyed en-joyed four days of basking in i the Nevada sunshine as they I stayed at the Cowley home at Lake Mead. The foursome enjoyed en-joyed a Thanksgiving dinner to getner wnn ooating taking a pleasant part of the vacation time. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Stapley and tf nily spent the recent holi day visiting with relatives !r Delta, Springville, and Salt Lake City. Enroute to Salt Lake they visited with Mr. Stapleys mother, moth-er, Mrs. M. M. Stapley in Delta In Salt Lake City they were the house guests of Mr. and Mrs Melvln Ballard. The Ballardr were introducing their month-old month-old daughter, Avis, to Mrs. Ballard's Bal-lard's parents, sister and brother Born on Oct. 24, the new baby has another sister, Nicalee, who is also Justly proud of the new arrival. Mrs. Ballard will he re membered as the former LaHae Stapley. As the Stapleys returned to Cedar City, they visited In Springville with Mrs. Stapleys sister, Mrs. Leona Llston. Visiting family members was the pleasure of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Con-rad Hatch and four children over the four-day holiday. On Thanksgiving Thanks-giving Day they enjoyed dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Hatch of Koosharem. Friday they visited with Mrs. Hatch's mother, Mrs. Ruby Oldroyd in Richfield. A trip to Grantsville on Saturday Satur-day took them to the home of Mr. Hatch's sister and family, the Forrest Washburns. After a very pleasant visit the familx- ' returned to Cedar City on Sunday. |
