Show I LIVING IN THE ESCALANTE VALLEY Nominations were made for new officers at the coordinating Council's regular monthly meeting meet-ing for November. President John McGary conducted the meeting with 15 members present. Bryner Wood reported for the park committee, stating that they would like to finish the work on the park pump after the turkey shoot. Niels Neilsen and Gene Butler But-ler represented the agricultural and road committees and in the absence of Robert Hyde the TV report was given by Alfred Force. Gordon Moyle reported for the Escalante Valley Electric Asso-elation Asso-elation while Marty Wood and Georgia Moyle reported for publicity. pub-licity. The Y-Z Trail sign in the absence ab-sence of Alene Smith was reported report-ed on by John McGary and Alfred Al-fred Force. Ladies club was reported by Miriam McGary while Edith Force represented Modena. Arthur Piper announced the 4-H achievement program. Announcement An-nouncement was also given in regard to Gene Butler's appointment appoint-ment to fill the vacancy caused by David Love's resignation from the Iron County School Board, and on a talent show to be given on Nov. 29th, sponsored by the PTA. CUB SCOUTS Due to deer season the October Cub Scout Pack meeting was held the first week in November at the community building with newly elected cub Master Gene Butler taking charge. Dens 3 and 4 of Newcastle were honor dens for the evening, due to the fact that they had the largest group of parents In attendance. at-tendance. Planning meeting Is to be held November 17th. LIONS AND LADIES The Lions and Ladies celebrated celebrat-ed Armistice Day with their regular reg-ular ladies' night at the Chinese Cafe in Castelton, Nev. Forty-seven persons were In attendance at-tendance to enjoy both the delicious de-licious Chinese and American food. Jean and David Love who are spending the winter at Caliente teaching school were in attendance attend-ance at the banquet David reported re-ported on their stay in Caliente. The events of the evening were conducted by Lion President Warren Piatt of Newcastle. The Lions reported on their Turkey shoot and breakfast during dur-ing the pheasant hunt. They also reported in regard to the progress pro-gress of their deer hide contest. HERE AND THERE Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dean and two children, Paul and Carol of Cupertino, California, are here in the valley to make their home. They will run the new Alex Wood Cafe south of the Bryner Wood store under the name of "Dean's Cafe." This cafe is now open for service. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Moyle of Magna, Utah, spent part of Sunday Sun-day visiting at the Austin Moyle home. The Moyles of Magna were visiting at Cedar City with a son who is attending CSU. Mrs. Alene Smith is In California Cali-fornia with her daughter, Ruth. Mrs. Nora Austin is in Salt Lake City staying with her brother Earnest and family. Mrs. Austin will undergo surgery before be-fore coming home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Moyle, Jr., and brother George motored to Salt Lake City where they attended at-tended a Case meeting. They visited vis-ited with Mrs. Moyle's brother and family, the Vincent Joneses of Bountiful. |
