Show Redmen Meet Rabbits in State Semi -Final Contest Saturday With a bye in the state Class B quarterfinals of the football championship race, the Cedar High Redmen will travel to Delta Del-ta Saturday, Nov. 18 to meet the Delta Rabbits in a state semifinal semi-final contest with the winner to advance to the state finals in Salt Lake City the following week. Game time has been set for 1 p. m. on the Delta field. Cedar High School Redmen won the Region Ten crown for the 19G1-62 season two weeks ago with a four win and one tie record and have been idle for the past two weeks from inter-high school competition. Last week in a special game against a strong alumni competition com-petition that was gathered together to-gether to give the Redmen some action, Coach Hal Norton's gridiron grid-iron wow came through with flying colors, posting a 12 to 7 win. A Question of Defense In posting this win, the Red-men Red-men were extremely impressive, particularly on defense and In all liklihood the ability of the Redmen defensively may be a key to their outcome against the Rabbits Saturday afternoon. In practically every game that the Rabbits have played this year they have been scored on, sometimes quite heavily, but their offensive punch has been sufficient to outdo their opponents. oppo-nents. In other words If the Redmen follow the pattern of most opponents op-ponents of the Delta crew this year, they will, in all likelihood score on the Rabbits. But the ability to hold the Rabbits down could mean the difference between be-tween winning and losing. Coach Norton and his crew will go into this semi-final contest i with a determination to win and with Kent Farnsworth doing the calling, the crew could pull this one through. Farnsworth at quarterback, has shown remarkable remark-able Improvement throughout the year and Is just reaching his -i peak going into this state playoff. play-off. Against the alumni he showed a great ability to mix his plays up and he has shown on a number num-ber of occasion that his passing is enough to keep any high school club honest on the defense. de-fense. Winner of this semi-final contest con-test will advance to the state finals against the winner of the East Carbon versus American Fork game which will be played the same afternoon. Two more important factors in the outcome of the Redmen cause Saturday will be the work of the two ends, seniors Bill Vorkink and John Stevenson. Both have played outstanding ball this season sea-son and on occaions, both have turned in great performances both offensively and defensively. Comparative scores would indicate indi-cate that the Rabbits h."e the better of the two squads. But comparative scores, particularly in the prep ranks, mean very little and have given wrong indications in-dications more than once this season. Delta walked off with a victory over the higkly touted Millard Eagles to win its Region title this year. The Redmen opened op-ened the season against these same Eagles and were defeated by a 42 to 0 score. Both clubs have met the Dixie Flyers and both clubs have wins over Dixie with the Rabbits again by a wider margin. Delta tackled the Flyers at Delta in the opening game of the season for both clubs and the Redmen took on the Flyers In the first league game of the season in St. George the following week. But don't sell the Redmen short; they have shown improvement improve-ment and have proven their capabilities cap-abilities in their two most recent outings. It should be an interesting battle. n mj: k ... .w.,..,..u, . ,,.,.,., iiian.....!..,,,,., , , ,. .... ,,,,. i V I ...... .: 4 . " - . : I. .-. " , CEDAR HIGH REDMEN.
