Show Ute Bowling Team Meets Defeat In Cedar City Match In what proved to be a very Interesting and close match between be-tween the University of Utah Bowling team and the Cedar Stars Saturday afternoon, the Cedar Stars edged out the visiting visit-ing Ute team by a mere 29 points for the six game series. The U of U team was made up of Steve Bucll, a pre law student and the holder of the Bowler of the Year Award for the state of Utah; Ernie Abbott, Steve Davies, Lynn Kano and Cliff Abe. Abbott is a major in electrical engineering, engineer-ing, Davies and Kano are both majoring in accounting and Abe is a student of Psychology. Trailing in the final game of the series the visiting crew from the U of U marie a race out of the match with a tremendous 1020 game, but it was not enough although the game was high for the series. Rolling for the Cedar Stars were Gordon Twitchell, Grant Seegmiller, Mel Adams, Leigh Rosenberg and Tommy Kirtley. This team put on a good exhibition exhibi-tion of bowling led by Kirtley with a 20-1 average for the six games and a 1226 series for tops for both teams. He had a high of 246. Leading J1" visitors was Buell with a 1177 series, a high game of 224 and a 196 game average. John Keysor, games director at the U of U Union, who brought the team to Cedar City, express-ed express-ed the hope that at some later date arrangements can be made for the University team to come down and bowl another match. They expressed appreciation, also, al-so, for the fine reception given them while here and the fine dis play of sportsmanship shown by all bowlers. Kirtley's six games were as follows: 158, 210, 204. 206 and 203 for a total of 1227. His three I game series were 614 and 613. Rosenberg had game of 19f, 157. 187, 187, 170 and 171. Adams: 188, 214, 156, 187, 189 and 163. Twitchell: 148. 201, 221, 149, 180 and 191. Seegmiller: 183, 183, 166, 168, 182, and 20-1. |
