Show 1962 Student Trainee Competition Opened The U. S. Civil Service Commission Com-mission has announced the open conpt tition for student trainee appointments during 1962 in the Federal Civil Service according to an announcement by Walter E. Elder, director of the commission's commis-sion's Denver Regional office. The Federal Government's student stu-dent tn'nee program, Mr. Elder said, ttf.'ers college students an opportunity to work in Federal agencies in fields which are closely related to their college majors. Its purpose is to Increase the supply of professionally trained manpower available to federal agencies in shortage fields. Mr. Elder said that trainee train-ee programs exist in engineering, physics, mathematics, accounting, account-ing, the agricultural sciences and certain fishery and wildlife fields in various Federal agencies in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. High school seniors may compete com-pete for a limited number of appointments ap-pointments following graduation but most appointments will go to college freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The majority of students stu-dents will be employed during summer vacations or in cooperative coopera-tive work-study programs thru cooperative arrangements with colleges and universities.
