Show CXvirot TV sirs Y I . QQAVtA TV JIT ILLUSTRATES TV SETUP. This chart, prepared by Elvin Webster, gives a graphic illustration of the complicated Translater TV System set up in Iron County and also the channel assignments to eliminate interference with one another. Signal arrives at the Milford and Beaver TV sites and is relayed into Iron Iron County as shown. County Television Undergoes FCC Law Changes Televsion in Iron County is undergoing un-dergoing some extensive changes these past few weeks to bring necessary equipment, operated through the Iron County Commission, Com-mission, to standards required by the Federal Communications Commission, according to Elvin Webster, supervisor of the television tele-vision system. Changes in the old booster equipment are now in the process pro-cess of being made and approximately approx-imately two more weeks will be necessary before the new equipment equip-ment is working at top efficiency. efficien-cy. Webster explained that there will be days when reception will not be as good as the day before be-fore and it takes time for all of the necessary changes to be made. Fire Translators Iron County now has five translator sites, which means a total of 15 channels on which the three signals can be receivou and it has been planned out so that no one site will interfere with the other. In western Iron County the translators are fed from the Mil-ford Mil-ford translator site and the ret of the county ij Ld from the Beaver Translator site. Iron County does not control the whole system and these other sites can also cause trouble. The signal can be relayed over the Iron County system only as good as it is received from these other systems. Therefore if Milford or Beaver sites are experiencing trouble, or even the Salt Lake stations themselves, that trouble, will show up on television sets in this area. This new equipment is the latest lat-est and best equipment for this purpose, but no equipment is absolutely ab-solutely trouble-free at all times. During the winter months heavy snow storms tend to disrupt the power system particularly at the Minersvllle Ridge translator site which is at the 7300 ft. level. The new chanels for Modena, Newcastle and the Escalante Valley will be 2 on 2, 4 on 4, and 5 on 6. At Paragonah, Parowan and Summit reception will be 2 on 3, 4 on 8, and 5 on 10. Cedar Valley Reception For Cedar Valley, Enoch and part of Cedar City, particularly in the west portion, the signals can be received 2 on 2, 4 on 4, and 5 on 5. All of Cedar City, however, can received the boosted boost-ed signal from the "Knoll" on the following channels, 2 on 9, 4 on 11, and 5 on 12. Kanarraville and New Harmony Har-mony will find the channels as follows: 2 on 8, 4 on 10, and 5 on 12. Some difficulty may be experienced exper-ienced on the higher channel numbers, Webster stated. If this Is the case, it is suggested that a repairman be contacted to adjust ad-just the sets accordingly. For best results those with low band antennas should point those antennas to the Minersvllle Miners-vllle Ridge site for best results in the Cedar City area. As yet all equipment for the Modena, Newcastle and Escalante Esca-lante Valley area has not been received. Installation will be made as soon at it arrives, Webster Web-ster said. |
