Show Tree Planting Program Started by Branch Colleae at Campus, Dairy and on Farm j An extensive tree planting program pro-gram at Branch Agricultural college col-lege is under way, and will continue con-tinue until some 300 trees have been planted on the campus and on the valley farm. The program was started last week at the annual spring clean- i up day. Many young trees were set out on the east slope of the stadium by students and faculty ', members. The planting program! will take in the slope west of the gymnasium and the hillside near! Center street. j When the program is completed, complet-ed, an attractive landscape plan for the whole stadium area and the hillside east of the present men's dormitory will have been worked out. Some of the trees have been set out for windbreak purposes on the valley farm west of Cedar City, with the remainder tagged for planting on other areas of the campus itself. This is part of a general cleanup clean-up and beautification program for the campus. The corrals on the campus are being moved away from second south street, sheds and barns remodeled and junk yards removed. The aim of the overall program is to make I the campus dairy farm a model i in appearance as well as operation. opera-tion. When the beautification is l completed around the campus farm, there will be only green pastures fronting on the streets, ,with the corrals and sheds re painted and repaired, clustered at the rear of the dairy barn and silo in attractive groupings. Shrubs and flowers will be added to the hillside areas around the stadium, and a sprinkling system installed to water the new plantings. |
