Show National Convention I Opens Today On College Campus Ttie Iirst national convention of the R O T C Sponsor Corps opened at the Branch Agricultural Agricultur-al college this morning with more than 120 young women from colleges boasting such organizations or-ganizations expected to register during the day. The delegates attending the convention will be housed at El Escalante hotel during the three-day event. The delegates were welcomed today by Dr. Daryl Chase, director di-rector of Branch Agricultural college, col-lege, and Dr. L. V. Broadbent, ; mayor of Cedar City, at a luncheon lunch-eon at El Escalante hotel. The opening session of the convention will be held this evening. eve-ning. The delegates will attend a dinner at 6 p. m.. fallowed by an illustrated lecture on Utah National Parks by Prof. Twain Tippetts of the college speech department. de-partment. I Business sessions will be held at various intervals Friday, with the highlight ofthe day's events being a tour of Zion national Ipark during the middle of the day, and the annual Military Ball at the college Friday evening, eve-ning, which has become the outstanding out-standing social event of the season sea-son at B A C. Saturday, May 2, the delegates dele-gates will be honored at a farewell fare-well luncheon at 1 p. m. and will again be addressed by Director Chase and Mayor Broadbent. An optional trip to Las Vegas, is I scheduled to begin at 3 p. m. ' Attempts will be made at this convention to set up an organization organi-zation that will result in making ( the convention an annual affair. |
