It is presented in cooperation coop-eration with the Iron County Teachers' Association and this paper). Jennie Whitby, afte a year's leave from the Cedar City Junior Jun-ior High School to serve an L D S mission, has returned to the staff this year in her capacity as school librarian. Mrs. Whitby received her early ear-ly education in the Nevada school system, graduatingv from Moapa Valjey High School at Overton, Nev. She obtained her degree in education from the Utah State Agricultural College at Logan. She minored in library science at the U S A C. In addition to her B A degree she has also done some graduate study in library science at the University of Southern California where she received instruction in teaching remedial reading. In the spring of 1954, follow ing the completion of the school year, Mrs. Whitby took a year's leave to serve her mission with the church. The school year plus the two summer vacation periods p.'lowed her to complete her 15 month mission. She spent practically her entire en-tire mission in the lower Rio Grande Valley in the cities of Brownsville and Harlengen, Tex., working with Spanish speaking people. Mrs. Whitby has two children, a daughter, Louise Perry of Falls Church, Va., and a son Boyd Whitby, now serving with the U S Army at Fort Riley, Kan. |
