Show HALLOWEEN METEOR AT DUNCANS Negotiations have been completed com-pleted for the removal of the "Halloween Meteor" from the driveway of the Gail Duncan home at 134 South 200 West, but nevertheless a price had to be paid. At the stroke of midnight Oct. 31 on Halloween night, the Duncans Dun-cans received a strange "meteor" that ended up right square in the middle of their driveway. The "meteor" has rested in that position since that time and the Duncans have received inumera-ble inumera-ble calls regarding the object. They have been asked if it was dug out of their yard? One party inquired if they were planning some type of rustic work in their front yard. Now the Duncans want people j to know that "we don't know how we got it." On Nov. 7 the Duncans received re-ceived a letter from the "Rhine j Stone Moving Company," who undoubtedly has seen the object in front of the Duncan residence. Enclosed with the letter from the stone moving company was a bid, acceptable as a contract for moving the "Halloween Meteor." The contract read as follows: CONTRACT "This contract is between the RHINE STONE MOVING COMPANY COM-PANY hereafter referred to in this contract as the party of the first part, and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Duncan, Dun-can, hereafter referred to as the party of the second part. :"The party of the first part agrees to remove and dispose of the stone from the property of the second party within 21 hours after receiving this contract signed by the party of the second sec-ond part. "The party of the second part agrees to pay the party of the first part an evening of entertainment enter-tainment for ten (10) people including ice cream and cake for dessert. This entertainment is to take place at the home of the party of the second part within one week from the time that the stone removing job has been completed by the party of the first part. Further instructions noted that "This contract must be notarized by a legal notary public." ""Frank'y we don't think in can move it, so this is a pretty fair price," Gail said. A new concern in town, the "Rhinestone Moving Company" has offered to move the stone. See story. |
