Show VON COSSACK DAGGER VANCE Gabriel SoJoduhin, the intrepidthe San Francisco World's Fair Cossack, whose hair-raising dagger dag-ger dance is one of the most exciting ex-citing interludes in the program of the Platoff Don Cossack singers sing-ers and dancers to be presented here on November 4 in the CSU Auditorium under the auspices of Kiwanis Club is probably the most photographed Cossack in the world. He has made dozens of motion pictures and is summoned sum-moned each season to Hollywood whenever there is a call for a colorful Cossack in a movie. A daring horseman, trained by his father and his grandfather, Solo-duhin Solo-duhin has also been featured by Ringling Brothers and Bar-num Bar-num and BaUey's Circus in riding rid-ing spectacles, performing the famous Cossack trick of riding strapped to a horse's belly. Soloduhin came to America a decade ago with the Flatoff Cossacks Cos-sacks and after their debut at was signed by Colonel Tim McCoy, Mc-Coy, the Wild West motion picture pic-ture star and become a regular member of his company also making summer tours with Colonel Col-onel McCoy with the circus. During Dur-ing the war when ColoneJ McCoy Mc-Coy rejoined the United States Cavalry, Soloduhin returned to his band of fellow Cossacks for their overseas tours to entertain American troops and he has been with them ever since. In the current program of the Cossacks, Soloduhin is featured in the Lezginka, a barbaric Cau-casion Cau-casion dance which begins on the sad lilt of a peasant song and concludes in a wild dance of jubilation. With the entire chorus cho-rus providing the vocal background back-ground Soloduhin performs the traditional dance with daggers which never fails to stir his audiences. |
