Show Statistics on Special and Regular Deer Permits Indicate Large Influx Apparently Parowan can look for the biggest Influx of deer i hunters' from California that has lever Invaded this section for the big October event, If sales of pe- cial deer hunting permits has anything to do with it. On Aug. 28 800 permits for a special doe hunt In the Paragon-ah-Cottonwood area of northeast Iron County went on sale in Parowan Par-owan and of that number 670 were purchased by out-of-state hunters, almost all of them being be-ing from California. This hunt Is to run concurrently with the regular reg-ular either sex hunt, from Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. In other years the sale of these special permits has run about half to local people and half to out-of-state hunters, and that is the way the Fish and Game department de-partment would like it to be. But this year local hunters didn't get interested in purchasing the special spe-cial parmlts, and although they were available up until Sept. 28, when the last one was sold, local lo-cal residents still didn't show much interest. As a result only 130 of the permits for that district dis-trict went to Jocal residents', with the rest, or 670 going to out-of-staters who are willing to pay $10 for the regular license plus the cost of the special permit. 125 Permits Left Berta Burton, who had the special spe-cial permit sale in charge, reports re-ports that she has 125 permits left out of the 200 allowed for the special post season doe hunt in the Parowan area. It seems that local residents aren't interested inter-ested in them and they are not very attractive to out-of staters, who would have to come on two different week ends late in the year, to participate In the hunt. Mrs. Rurton also states that so far this year the license agency agen-cy maintained at Burton's garage has sold 550 out-of-state licenses' which also bears out the prediction predic-tion that we will have the largest larg-est influx of hunters in our history his-tory as a deer hunting region. Local units Full Already all tourist cabin accommodations accom-modations have been reserved and many residents have opened up their home for the accommodation accommo-dation of outside hunters, It is announced. In an effort to furnish fur-nish Information to these hunters who are coming in, the Parowan Gun and Rod Club is setting up an Information booth the first of next week as an aid in helping especially new hunters in this vicinity. The booth will be located on main street and will be n-.anned from 7 a. m. until late at night. It will be manned by people who can give out the information most needed by the hunters to make their stay here more enjoyable. |
