Show Polio Fund Heads Announce Emergency Drive Dan Crawford and A. E. What-cott, What-cott, Iron County and Cedar City ! polio fund campaign chairmen, respectively, announce that now emergencies throughout the na-1 tion have created a rather desperate des-perate need for additional funds, and that they haw been asked to conduct another fund raising, campaign here. Early in the year the national campaign was conducted in which the goal was set at 75 million mil-lion dollars, the amount it was felt would be needed to carry on the all-important research for the prevention and cure of polio, and for the treatment of patients stricken with the disease. dis-ease. Now it has become apparent that unless additional funds are received research will stop and many patients badly in need of treatment will be deprived of it. Special Campaign To assist with the program a fund raising campaign will be conducted in Cedar City and Iron County from Aug. 16 to the end of the month. A house to house canvas will be organized, all business firms will be contact -ed, and the support of all civic groups will be asked for, Mr. I Crawford and Mr. Whatcott 1 stated. No quota has been set for the county, but the campaign leaders lead-ers are hoping that at least 25 cents for every man, woman and child in the county can be raised during the two week period. There are 67,000 patients stricken in earlier years that must have continuing care, not to mention unknown numbers of victims of current record outbreaks out-breaks In the country.
