Show Game Counts Show Chukars "Take Hold" in Plants A game division report shows that 12,526 chukar partridges have now been planted over the state as the Utah Department of Fish and Game carries the program pro-gram to establish this fine species spe-cies of upland game bird into the fourth year of its operation. Plants of 200 or more birds have now been made in 31 carefully care-fully selected areas in 20 of the state's 29 counties. Game farm production of.chuk-. ars was doubled this year when the Springville farm facilities were used in addition to those at the Price farm where the program pro-gram had been carried on during the first three years. Spokesmen say as many birds will be stocked Into the field hatcheries this year as during dur-ing the previous three years of the program, provided good fortune for-tune continues to attend the raising rais-ing of the young birds now at the farms. Field checks and wild brood counts will be conducted later in the summer before a forecast can be made of any successful establishment of these bircs'LtT" many of the more newly planted areas.
