Show Rotary Rangers Cop First Half League Race Honors Rotary Rangers last Friday evening in the Cedar City Little League race captured first place in the first half by defeating the Lion Tamers by a score of 5 to 0. Behind the pitching of Jeff Marchant the Rangers played excellent ex-cellent ball throughout. They scored their five runs in the third inning. Taking advantage of every situation the Rangers banked on two errors, two walks, coupled with two hits to gain the five run advantage. Both teams played good ball with Douglas Haycock and Steven Stev-en Cahoon on the mound for three innings each for the Lions. The game, which happened to be the last games scheduled for the half, determined the championship champion-ship as the two teams were in a deadlock going into the fracas. Earlier in the week the Elk Rulers scored a victory over Columbia, Co-lumbia, 16 to 5 to move into a 'tie with that team for third spot. Last Wednesday evening Kiwa-nis Kiwa-nis took the measure of Milnes by a score of 13 to 2. Only one gam'? remains to be played in the first half, that a contest between Kiwanis and Columbia Co-lumbia which was rained out two weeks ago. Because of the lull between halves the game will not be made-up until the beginning begin-ning of the second half. Second half play will get under way on Monday, July 12. |
