Show Colorful Floats Launch Fifth Festivities "Hansel and Gretel," a highly colorful float entered in the annual an-nual Fourth of July miniature parade by the Jaycee-Ettes of Cedar, was awarded the grand prize by the .Lady Lions, sponsoring spon-soring organization. "The King and Queen of Hearts," canylng the royalty of the day led the parade down Ce-der Ce-der City's Main Street in one of the most colorful miniature parades pa-rades in the city's history. Although Al-though the parade lacked in quantity, quality was the order of the day with most of the floats expressing a considerable amount of work from their sponsors. Wayne Knell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Page Knell, and Cheryl Mr-schi, Mr-schi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Hirschi, were chosen king and nueen for the dav with Keith Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Nelson, and Lynda Baldwin, Bald-win, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Baldwin, as attendants. They rode on the parade leading float, "The King and Queen of Hearts." Winners Announced Division winners were announced an-nounced at the city park following follow-ing the parade, as follows: Story book division, another "Hansel and Gretel" float entered by the Klwanl-Anns won first, and "Alladin and His Lamp," sponsored spon-sored by the Cedar Drug, took second place honors. In the patriotic pa-triotic division, Southern Utah Power Co. with "Stories of Our Country" won first with "One World," sponsored by the American Ameri-can Legion Auxiliary, winning second place. In the original division, di-vision, "Seasons," co-sponsored by the North East Furniture and Hunter Hardware won first prize, and "Sailing Down the River," entered by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Cripps was second. In the vehicle division, Bobby Syrett copped first; Freddy Es-meier Es-meier won second, and Christine Dotson won third. The Lady Lions expressed their thanks to the Yergensen Bros, of Cedar City for their contribution of free show tickets to aU parade pa-rade participants and the City for free swimming tickets. |
