Pays Echo finished ahead of Swan Step, Healy's Banner, Tiger Jack and Step Marietta, in that order, in the six-furlong event. Holding Pays Echo is Trainer Davis. The young lady is Marian Bradshaw, daughter of Mrs. Sherwin Bradshaw, who presented Mr. George with the blanket, symbol of victory in the -big race. These feature races matching the very best horses of Utah under handicap weights, focused the attention of the entire area on the Cedar City meet, creating unusual in-terest in-terest in the three-day event. Doa D prored to be 1 the horse of the year in Utah this i year, winning the $500 feature race on the opening day, and coming back on the last day to lead from wire to wire to win the mile and one-sixteenth handicap over the best horses that could be pitted against him. The stout- , hearted Doa D beat off the challenges chal-lenges of eight other horses, in spite of the fact that he was carrying car-rying 135 pounds, from five to seventeen pounds more than the others. Francis Kelly's Stepwaiki, fast and powerful two-year-old, winner, of the "Golden Nuggett" Handicap for Utah and Nevada owned and bred horses, a feature of the last day's program. D; C. Swapp's Krona S. was second with Buck Blaine's Nuggett third, followed by Alvin Judd's Baby Snooks, and C. Stewart's Comet Gal. The race was made possible by the cooperation of Mr. Blaine, owner of the "Golden Nuggett" in Las Vegas, Nevada, who contributed half the purse. The race is expected to become an annual feature of the local meet. Holding Stepwaiki is trainer Howard Smith. The others are (left to right) Ellie Wright one of the outstanding riders pf the meet, Clarence Lam-oreaux, Lam-oreaux, contributor of the blanket, owner Francis Kelly Mrs. Garna Riding, president of the V. Tidy Step held the lead until within a few steps of the finishing wire, when the great Don D pulled ahead to win the race by a nose. From left to right are Weldon George's High Kisses, Dr. L. D Stewart's Stone High, O. Gottfredson's Scotty Step, McKinley. Morrill's Don D, Tidy Step, and J. II. Ingram's Twilight. Stone High was third, followed by Scotty Step Twilight and High Kisses.
