Show Large Drop Noted In Visitors to Zion National Park Tourist travel through Zion National Na-tional park for the month of May dropped off considerably from last year's attendance for the same month. The total number of people traveling through the park for May, 1950 was 29,306, compared to 33,014 for May. 1949. This is ! a drop of 3,708. The number of automobiles going through dropped drop-ped from 11,094 for May, 19-19 to 10,215 for May, 1950. Utah had the highest number num-ber of people visiting the park with a total of 11,686 persons. California was next with 8,981 for the month. A number of other oth-er states were well represented. Nevada had 817, Arizona had 750, Idaho numbered 500 and Washington registered 437 peo ple. Nine foreign countries were also represented during the month of May. They were: Alaska, Alas-ka, Canal Zones, Guam, Hawaii, Canada, Japan, South America, Switzerland and the West Indies. Bryce Canyon National park held Its own for the month of fMay, registering 16,050 people, I for 1950, compared to 16.0S3 forj May 1919, a drop of only 33 persons. per-sons. Utah was also high in Bryce registrations with a total to-tal of 4,315 from the home state. |
