Show Funeral Services Set for J.B.(Dode) Bess Joseph Benjamin (Dodo) Boss, 66, for many years a popular barber bar-ber in Cedar City, died at his home Monday after an illness of almost 10 years. Funeral services ser-vices will be conducted in the Third ward chapel by Bishop A. E. Whatcott at 2 p. m. on Friday. Fri-day. Prior to his retirement after suffering a stroke about 10 years ago Mr. Bess had served as a barber in Cedar City. After graduating grad-uating from the Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college he engaged in the livestock business for a time before be-fore becoming a barber. He was born In Virgin City, Utah, on Oct.. 5, 1885, a son of William Henry and Emma Smith Bess. On Nov. 19, 1907 he married mar-ried Agnes Webster in the St. George Temple. She died on Aug. 30, 1919, and on June 15, 1920, Mr. Bess married Elsie Mosdell Clark, who survives him. Besides his widow he is survived sur-vived by 10 children, three sons from his first marriage, Ambrose Bess. Cedar City; Jack Bess, Murray; William Bess, Parowan, and the following sons and daughters from his second marriage: mar-riage: Mrs. Dorothy Petty, Rex E. Bess, Keith Bess, Nolan L. Bess, Mrs. LaRue Roundy, Marjorie Bess, all of Cedar City, and Mrs. Colleen Murdock, Salt Lake City. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, grand-children, one great-grandchild, one brother, James L. Bess of Cedar City, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph C. Smith of Milford. Burial will be in the Cedar City cementery under the direction direc-tion of the Southern Utah mortuary. |
