Show SLATE RURAL LIFE CONFERENCE NOV. 10-11-12 Because of a cancellation last February, a Rural Life and Education Edu-cation Conference will be held In Cedar City, November 10, 11 and 12, according to Ianthus Wright, superintendent of Iron County schools. The conference has been planned plan-ned in detail by the Adult Education Edu-cation Committee of the Coordinating Coordin-ating Council, under the chairmanship chair-manship of C. B. Cooley, instructor instruct-or at the Branch Agricultural college. - The organization has been changed somewhat this year with the schools participating more actively In order that state funds would be made available to carry on the program. Workshop directors and the central committee will meet the first evening, November 10, with the other two meetings being open to the public. Conference sessions have been divided into four separate stucty groups. Area No. 1, Developing School and Community Relationships, Relation-ships, will be under the super-vision super-vision of Dr. J. C. Moffett, sup-erintendent sup-erintendent of Provo schools; Area No. 2, Zeal for American! Democracy, under Dr. E. A. Jac-obsen, Jac-obsen, dean of the school of Education, Ed-ucation, Utah State Agricultural college; Area No. 3, Expanding Neighborhood Industries, Arts and Crafts, under the direction of Maude Hardman, supervisor of art, Salt Lake City schools, and Area No. 4, Making the Best of Our Natural Resources, Mark Nichols, Ni-chols, director of vocational education, edu-cation, State Department of Pub-lie Pub-lie Instruction. A special visitor, Lois M. Clark, Washington, D. C, assistant assist-ant director of rural service of National Education Association, will be presented for the conference. confer-ence. A group from Albuquerque, New Mexico, made up of people from the schools and the Soil Conservation Service has indicated indi-cated its desire to attend. A special program for the public pub-lic meeting, Triday, November 11, is also being planned. Workshop directors besides Mr. Wright include C. B. Cooley, Dr. H. Wayne Driggs, director of the BAC; N. J. Barlow, assistant sup-erintendent, sup-erintendent, State Department of Public Instruction; Mary McMillan, McMil-lan, Iron County elementary school supervisor, and Mrs. D. C. Dix, coordinator. |
