Parry will carry the Democra- tic standard and Myles Walker and Frank Milne will run as can- j iidates for four-year term coun- I cilmen. i The Democratic meeting was lield Tuesday evening at the Es- f calante hotel. J S. W. Leigh, furniture dealer, and Twain Tippetts, member of the Branch Agricultural college faculty, were nominated for the ' positions of two-year term coun- -cilmen. E. B. Dalley, who has j served as Clerk of the Selective 3 Service Board since the start of the war, ' was nominated for Treasurer, and Mrs. Ellen Sim- j kins, present Recorder, was nom- i inated for re-election to that of- j lice. j The major issue of the cam- i paign, the Democrats decided, would be that of cheaper power ' xates, as the party came out for 1 the community purchase of the Southern Utah Power company. The party also went on record rec-ord as favoring non-partisan municipal mu-nicipal elections. The leaders issued is-sued a statement maintaining that since the purpose of holding hold-ing municipal elections on alternate alter-nate years with national elect-tions, elect-tions, is to avoid confusion of issues, is-sues, it is wrong to conduct municipal mu-nicipal elections on party lines. They state that they will continue con-tinue to work for non-partisan elections. |
