Show First Redmen Grid Session Draws 55 Men No coaxing seems to be needed fcr the Cedar Redmen football team, as 55 young hopefuls, mostly newcomers, reported to Coach Glen Jackson Friday afternoon after-noon for the first gridiron session ses-sion for the local high school. A few regulars could be spotted spot-ted among the crowd, but for the most part, Coach Jackson will have new material to work with this fall. This week, the boys were divided di-vided Into A and B squads. The B squad is being made up of sophomores according to Coach Jackson, with an opportunity to advance to the A squad anytime an Individual proves his ability. Those who saw a good deal of action last year and who are now listed on the A squad are Johnny John-ny Messer, guard; Boyd Whitby, quarterback; Paul Soulhwick. halfback, and Jack Sargent, center, cen-ter, but who has now been shifted shift-ed to fullback. Other members of the squad are: center, Geral dBradshaw, Cloyd Orton, and LaMar Clark; guard, Bevan Higbee and Scott Slanworth; tackle, Bevan Iverson, Clyde Hunt, Sam Cutler and Robert Rob-ert Frame; end. Gary Middleton, Gordon Sargent, Sheldon Alger and Robert Dewey; quarterback, Gary Smith and Gay Smith; halfback, Gary Davis, Norman Prince and Tommy Given; fullback, full-back, Reed Barlow and Clark Rollins. First test of the strength of the Redmen will come on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Sept. 13, when they travel tra-vel to Panaca for a non-league contest with Panaca high. The tentative scheduled for Region Re-gion Six football includes: Friday, Sept. 22: Hinckley at Millard, Delta at Beaver, Cedar t Parowan, Hurricane at Kanab Mid Dixie at Milford. Friday, Sept. 29: Beaver at Hinckley, Millard at Delta. Mil-ford Mil-ford at Cedar, Parowan at Kanab and Hurricane at Dixie. Friday. Oct.6: Delta at Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Millard at Milford, Kanab at Beaver, Parowan at Hinckley, find Dixie at Cedar. Wednesday. Oct. 11: Hurricane at Millard, Milford at Beaver, Hurricane at Delta. Dixie at Parowan Par-owan and Cedar at Kanab. Friday. Oct. 20: Beaver at Millard, Mil-lard, Milford at Delta, Parowan at Hurricane, Kanab at Dixie and Cedar at Hinckley. Thursday, Oct. 26: Beaver at Hurricane, Millard at Cedar, Ka-rab Ka-rab at Milford, Hinckley at Dixie Dix-ie and Delta at Parowan. Friday, Nov. 3: Play-off of any possible ties. Saturday, November 11: Semifinals. Semi-finals. Region Three winner at home of winner of Region Six. Saturday, Nov. 18: State finals at University of Utah stadium. |
