Team Scores Double Victory Over Weber Five in Non-league Tilts The hustling cagers from the Branch Agricultural college open-ed open-ed their new fieldhouse last week end with a bang, defeating the northern division Intermountain conference champions, Weber on Friday and Saturday nights. Basketball fans jammed the new fieldhouse on both nights to see the wonder boys of the southern division race, stop Weber We-ber 41-36 and 57-52 in thrilling games that saw the hard fighting fight-ing teams go into an overtime period in the last encounter. Improving rapidly as the season sea-son has progressed, the Broncos loomed this week as one of the big guns in the ICAC race and also in the annual regional junior jun-ior college basketball tournament slated for Weber college March 2, 3 and 4. In the Friday night game, the I Broncs and Wildcats fought on even terms with the lead exchanging ex-changing hands several times during the first half. The Broncos Bron-cos held a halftime lead of 2219 and boosted this to 41-36 at the end of the game. Bond led the J BAC cagers to victory, scoring 12 points on four field goals and four fouls, for high point honors of the evening. Saturday night's thriller saw "Smoky" Sorenson, BAC captain and star guard, blaze a trail to victory with 18 points, gained by way of five field goals, and an almost perfect record pn the foul I line, 8 out of 9 tries. I In the final minutes of play, the Wildcats, trailing by three points, broke up a Bronco stall, and tied up the game, -18 all. The Broncos had led at halftime b.v a 2."-19 score. In the overtime period, Soren-son Soren-son and Max Bond searheaded the attack which saw the Branch Aggies finish ahead for the second sec-ond straight night. 57-52. Other high scorers for the BAC cage team were Bond. Don Tuft and Erie Reese, each chalking up nine points. High point man for Weber was Jerry Brown, with 14 tallies. Score of Friday night's game: I.
