Show Japanese Educators To Visit Cedar Community Group Two Japanese educators, part of a group of 23 who were brought to this country on a 60-day 60-day tour in an effort to assist in the further democratization of the schools of Japan, will be in Cedar City on March 30 and 31. The itinerary for the group is being planned by the U. S. of-fice of-fice of Education. When two of the group expressed an interest in community councils and asked to see projects in a well organized organiz-ed community, Dr. Murial W. Brown recommended that they be routed to Cedar City on their way back to the west coast to see the activities of the Coordinating Council and witness any cultural programs that might be in progress. pro-gress. Dr. Brown is consultant in Family Life Education at the National Office of Education, in Washington, D. C. The two Japanese educators, Mrs. Asa Tokunaga, Yokusuka, Japan, and Mr. Masami Aizawa, Hokkaido, Japan, will witness here the activities of the Coordinating Coordin-ating Council, and a performance March 30 of the opera "Faust" produced by the Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college. They will also view an art collection and make a tour of the school buildings.- Plans for the two days are under the direction di-rection of the Central committee, J. Frank Dalley, chairman, and UNESCO, V. Kirk Daly, chairman. chair-man. Mrs. Tokunaga is president of the PTA Federation in Yokosuka, consisting of 31 local PTAs. In addition she is vice-chairman of the General PTA committee attached at-tached to the Ministry of Education Educa-tion in Japan. PTAs are approximately approx-imately two years old in Japan. Mr. Aizawa is the director of the Obihiro Citizens Public Hall, and has had more than a year's residence and study in England and the United States nearly 20 years ago. |
