Show Point Rationing 1 Controls Flow Of Available Goods The munner in which point rationing ra-tioning can te used to govern th? flow of available goods has been aptly Illustrated during Aprl.l according ac-cording to Maeser Dalley of the Iron County war price and rationing ration-ing board. Mr. Dalley referred particularly to the changes tn point values of some neats and frozen foods as well as some other processed foods, during the month. I "Just like the battlefronts are constantly changing'", he said "so are the food fronts constantly shifting and point rationing Is admirably ad-mirably adapted to meet these changes. 'Thus It was found that frozen foods were not being sold under the old point values and were backing up In ware houses, requiring requir-ing valuable space. Because of the nature of equipment needed for storing frozen foods, there Is a definite def-inite limit as to the amount of goods that may be processed In this way. when is was found that these sales were slow, the point value was lowered, thus stimulating stimula-ting movement of these goods by making them better ration buys." Mr. Dalley said OPA policy generally gen-erally is to confine point value changes to once a month, but in emergencies such as this, particularly particul-arly as the program Ls Just getting under way, some mid-month changes may be expected although they will be held to a minimum. The same situation held true in the rationing of some perishable meat product earlier In April when It was found that stocks of sausage w'er piling up. The ration value was reduced and now people are taking advantage of this better ration buy while stocks of other kinds of meat build up to a normal nor-mal level. Mr. Dalley was also advised by H. Grant Ivln,, state OPA director, that Issuance of War Ration Book Three will start In June and warned warn-ed against accepting any rumor. that this would mean rationing of additional goods. "You will be doing just what our enemies want us to do if you heed these ration rumors,'' he said. ''Besides, ''Be-sides, there ls no surer way to bring on a rationing program than to start a run on any particular product through ill-advised rumors. ru-mors. Official announcement will come from Washington on any new rationing program. |
