Jerome Goodspeed VanZandi who will teach mathematics, physics phys-ics and related subjects in aviation according to Director Henry O'cer-hanslcy O'cer-hanslcy who announced the addition addi-tion of Mr. VanZandt today. Mr. Van Zandt has spent the last 35 years alternat'ns his fee between teaching teach-ing in universities in Chile and the United States , and engineering for the United States Army and Commercial Com-mercial Aviation Companies. He wa; one of the men who laid out and supervised the construction of landing fields for the China Clipper for Honolulu. Midway. Guam, Manila and Hoiu Kong. Accompa living Professor Van Zandt is his wife Mrs. Hilda Van Zandt, an artLt who has taught painting and other phases of art at Los Angeles High School and the University of California Sum mer Sessions. They are makinir their home in Cedar Canyon to allow Mr. VanZandt to paint Cedar Ce-dar Breaks and other scenic attractions at-tractions near Cedar City. "Though we have traveled twice around the world and 14 times to Europe, we have long wanted to have the leisure and opportunity to come to Utah and allow M.rs. VanZandt to paint the extraordinary extraor-dinary scenery here. Being here gives me a chance to further serve by country by teaching these aviation av-iation cadets the things they wilt need to know about aviation, thhigs that I have learned in actual practice since I began my career as Aviation Engineer in the first World War," said Mr. VanZandt. |
