Show Lions Hear Tal" On Censorship Government censorship was the subject of discussion at the meeting meet-ing of the Lions Club Monday when Burns Finlinson, B. A. C. faculty member and member of the club, was asked to give a discussion of dissemination of news about the war effort. Mr. Finlinson traced the history of censorship from its start, before the United States entered the world conflict, but after world affairs af-fairs had forced the U. S. to take a definite stand on war issues. He explained the functions of the twa government agencies who control the war Information, the office o.r censorship and the office of war information. He also discussed the reaction of the American people, the press and radio, to the censorship program. In addition to Mr. Finllnson'3 talk the club members also heard from Coach Lee Liston, also a memlber of the club, whose Branch College basketball team won the Intermountain J u n io r College-championship College-championship last week end. Mr. Liston praised the members of his squad for the showing they made at the tournament and for their spirit of friendliness, good sportsmanship sports-manship and conscientious effort throughout the season. He also praised the people of Cedar City for the fine support given the Branch College and its teams. |
