Show 'Enoch Man Recovers From Battle. wounds Word has been received frcm the Philippine Islands that Pvt. Ash-I Ash-I ton L. Smith, son of Bp. and Mrs, I Stanley Smith of Enoch, had been I wounded In action late In March. I Bishop and Mrs. Smith were not i notified by the government of their ' son's injury and the first ,word they had of lt was when Pvt. Smith's wife received the Purnle Heart mailed by her husband. A letter, written after Pvt. Smtth had returned to action, stated that he had suffered a scrapnel wound In the leg, but had recovered satisfactorily. sat-isfactorily. Aston entered military service on July 24th, 1944 and left for overseas over-seas duty in January, 194S. He had been in combat duty with an infantry in-fantry unit on Luzon Island. He writes that one of his greatest thrills came when he was permitted to attend an L. D. S. Conference ih.ld on the Island. |
