Show Recreation Council Outlines Activities The recently organlz.d Community Commun-ity Recreation Council met Wednesday Wed-nesday nlBht to plan further for summer recr.ation activities. Mr. J. C. Haws was named general chairman chair-man of the committee for the In-depend.nce In-depend.nce Day celebration, July 4, with Lee Liston in charge of the sports events, Morris Roberts In charge of dunces, and Mrs. Lorvta Riddle in charge of the children's parade. Other committees will be' announc:d by Mr. Haws at a later1 date. It was announced that regular summer dunces will be sponsored by two dance age groups this year. The M. I. A. sponsoring Tuesday night affairs for teen-agers, and the Junior Chamber sponsoring Saturday Sat-urday night dances for adult groups. A Dance Scheduling Committee was appointed to plan these dances so they will not conflict. Members of this committee are Morris Roberts, chairman, Mrs. Blanche Houchen, , Frank Milne, and the Misses Elma Sargent and Collern Adams. A children's story hour will also be provided as well as other activities activ-ities for youngsters. The Executive Board of the Recreation Rec-reation Council is as follows: Lee (Liston. chairman; Mrs. Blanche Houchen, M. I. A.; Lorin C. iVflies. I city council; Dr. John Beal, Coordinating Coord-inating Council; Willard Lunt, Parks Planning Board, MorrU Roberts, Youth Council; Frank Milne, Junior Jun-ior Chamber; Mrs. Loreta Riddle, Children's Activities; Mrs. Fae Dix. Coordinator. They will meet regularly reg-ularly on the first Monday of each month. |
