Show National or Cltiirn The Nationality act of 1940 defines national as citizen of the United Unit-ed States or a person who, though not a citizen, owes permanent allegiance alle-giance to the United Statu, such as the people who reside on Guam or in the Philippines, or other United States dependencies. These people are citizens of their respective islands, is-lands, but they are United States nationals, na-tionals, not United States citizens. Congressional acts, on the other hand, raised the status of inhabitants of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands Is-lands to that of citizens of the Vr.it-cd Vr.it-cd States. |
