Show Lions Club Members Enjoy Christmas Party At Luncheon The members of the Lions club enjoyed a Christmas program at the meeting of the club Monday that proved to be one of the most Interesting and appropriate of many months. Three ex-servicemen, all members of the club, told of how they spent Christmas while In service. Walt Hanslnk told of one of his two Chrlstmases spent in service, one that he spent on r.uty in Leyte Bay I with the Jrpanese bombing the , Navy forces throughout Christmas' eve. The only feeling of Christmas ' came, he said, when a group of' Philippino children were taken a-! board the ship and outfitted with j clothing, cut down from service-! men's clothing., and given a Christmas Christ-mas meal. Frank Dalley told of three Christ-masses Christ-masses spent overseas, the first at', Hawaii, Uie second off Admiralty ; Islands, alerted ready to make a landing, and the third on a boat! enroute to the Philippines for the Invasion of Luzon. Hal Chrlstensen told of Christmas, 1941, while the national guard unit was waiting transfer to the Pacific theatre of operaUons. These remarks were followed by ! an interesting talk on the Spirit of ." Christmas, given by Leo Larson, also al-so a member of the club. Music for the prcjrsm included two trumpet duets by Mel Cowley and DeMoln Jones, and a vocal solo by Chaun-cey Chaun-cey Macfarlane, with Mrs. Beth Leigh as accompanist. |
