Show Harvard Observatory Sets Centennial BOSTON. Long known as the western hemisphere's "Patrolman ot the Skies." the Harvard college observatory ob-servatory will note the 100th anniversary anni-versary of Its founding at a four-day celebration December 27 30 In connection con-nection with the event, two science Conventions are scheduled here. First planetarium In the world to photograph the stellar activities of the sky, the observatory was completed com-pleted in 1846. Since then It has be come the eentral clearing house for all astronomical Information on this continent Beginning In 1880, the observa lory has photographed huge section of the iky each night. As a result It has a collection of photograph plates numbering more than 500,000, which enables astronomers to check the stellar activities which have occurred oc-curred during any rlear evening of the past 66 yearr |
