Show CEDAR CITY High School News By UDawn Riddle Monday morning the football trophy was presented to the high school. Th.s was one of our proudest proud-est moments, I am sure. Coach Slater. Morgan Rollo, Principal Wright, Superintendent Barlow and R. A. Asliby, representing region re-gion 6, spoke at the assembly. At its close fifteen cheers were given for the State Champions. After the beautiful trophy was given to us, "Mooch" Lowman, the captain of the team, was carried from th auditorium to the high school building build-ing on the shoulders of his fellow players. He carried the trophy with him and it was placed In a show case in the hall of our building. We have the football trophy and three musical trophies as well. Considering that we are Just a beginning be-ginning high school, we feel rather rath-er honored. We are hoping to add more trophies to our collection. The Cedarettes are sending to every home-town boy in the army a card bearing the Season's Greetings. Greet-ings. The cards are printed In red art paper. They have a poem and a picture and the usual Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on them. These cards were made by our printing department and are very attractive. The message Is as follows: To you who keep a gallant faithful faith-ful tryst In distant posts throughout our land, The Cedarettes of Cedar City High Send friendly Yule-tide greetings of good cheer. The strains "Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem, How still I see thee He," you'll know how much Our faith and pride are with you as you stand In our beloved land like sentinels ever true; May peace within your souls give strength to you In your unselfish search to help us find "Peace on Earth, Oood Will to Man.'' A new curb and gutter Is be-.ng be-.ng placed In front of the Institute intJ SeimnaTy buildings. This 1 one oT the finest Improvement chat could possibly be made. Mr. Clark of the Soil Conserva-ion Conserva-ion Office was a guest speaker at Jommerclal Club Tuesday. He told -hem of the benefits of his work. Ae also gave them the requirements require-ments of the Civil Service Examination. Examin-ation. He advised the students to go through college if possible. He said this would give them opportunity oppor-tunity In fields where there would be less competition. The students "of the Cedar City High School are going to do their part to help America In this national na-tional crisis. The faculty is doing all they can to make us realise that it is the little things" we can do that can help the nation do the big things that are necessary for the freedom of America. The entire en-tire school listened to the talk of President Roosevelt and also other news broadcasts Monday. By doing do-ing those things we are trying to realize Just what the real situation is. Llltle ways 6uch as saving paper by writing on both sides, by saving a little gasoline on some of our Joy rides, we are trying to do our part. We are very thankful that we have the teachers and supervisors super-visors that we have. If we follow their examples we are sur to do what we should. u u. |
