Show WE "PULOGIZE." THE "drinks are on us!" Come over to the water sink. That's the result of jumping at conclusions. But it serves Roll Tanner right, anyhow, any-how, for he shouldn't have acquired the legislature habit. Once a fellow is jailed for an offense of this kind he never regains his reputation, and is always suspected of some chycannery. That is about the only reason we have to offer for accusing R R. Tanner of Beaver of being a member of the piratical gang which has been trying to get their knives into the Utah State Press Association at this session of the Legislature. We are glad to remove this reproach from the southern part of the state and transfer it further north. It grieved us to think that nearly all the representatives from the south were "agin' the newspapers. The representative from Beaver county is Mr. Baxter, and he has proved himself a friend in need. We gladly clear Beaver county's "skirts" of this reproach. Our attention was called to the fact that our "wires were crossed" by Editor Karl Carlton of the Beaver County Press, who challenges us to mortal combat if we fail to retract. His letter reeks with gore and skulls and cross-bones, and we certainly had an awful fright. F"or the next few weeks we will employ a heavy body guard. But the real culprits shown up in our editorial have never "yeaped." Evidently they realize their mistake and want to keep under cover. m l |
