Show VIGOROUS PROTESTS AGAINST FREE SUGAR San Juan, Porto Rico, April 7. The Porto Rico Commerce association has sent a cablegram to President Wilson in which it is declared that the removal of the 'sugar tariff will mean disaster dis-aster to -that industry in the island of Porto Rico, and will leave thousands without employment employ-ment and affect financialeCondi-tions financialeCondi-tions materially. President Wilson is requested to allow a commission representing Porto Rico to be heard before final action ac-tion is taken. New Orleans, April 7. The American Cane Growers' association, associa-tion, in session here Saturday, voiced opposition to any revision of the tariff that ultimately means free sugar. Telegrams were sent to Representative Broussard at Washington, in which it was stated that the association would vigorously oppose such revision. J. D.
